customs rules when arriving in the maldives

My husband and I are due to travel to the Maldives soon and are celebrating a special event while we are there. I would like to take a special drunk for him in my hold luggage (not hand luggage) but will this be confiscated on arrival. Am I also right in believing that if I buy it from Duty Free in the UK on departure, it will be confiscated until my journey home?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
