Diving at Dhonveli

We have not dived before and want to make the most of the diving at Dhonveli. I am trying to find out whether you can do the PADI theory at home and complete the practical out there in Dhonveli. A dive school at home has said this is possible (they gave us the idea) but we wanted to find out before we go to save any disapointment.
